Christmas is an opportunity to reflect on the wonderful gifts Jesus has given us that cannot be wrapped and placed under a tree.

I’m Lynette (but those who love me call me Nettie). I'm passionate about helping others fall deeper in love with Jesus. I believe the Bible is not only God’s Word but also a sufficient guide for every aspect of life—providing wisdom, instruction, and hope for how we live and make decisions. As a wife, infertility survivor, and a biblical counsellor in training, my heart is to encourage and equip you to seek Christ in every season and steward the gifts He’s given us—including our bodies and hearts—with grace. Let’s journey together toward a life rooted in Scripture and devoted to honouring God.

"Who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will."
Ephesians 1:11
Our belief in God's wisdom supposes and necessitates that he has a settled purpose and plan in the work of salvation. What would creation have been without his design? Is there a fish in the sea, or a fowl in the air, which was left to chance for its formation? Nay, in every bone, joint, and muscle, sinew, gland, and blood-vessel, you mark the presence of a God working everything according to the design of infinite wisdom. And shall God be present in creation, ruling over all, and not in grace? Shall the new creation have the fickle genius of free will to preside over it when divine counsel rules the old creation? Look at Providence! Who knoweth not that not a sparrow falleth to the ground without your Father? Even the hairs of your head are all numbered. God weighs the mountains of our grief in scales, and the hills of our tribulation in balances. And shall there be a God in providence and not in grace? Shall the shell be ordained by wisdom and the kernel be left to blind chance? No; he knows the end from the beginning. He sees in its appointed place, not merely the corner-stone which he has laid in fair colours, in the blood of his dear Son, but he beholds in their ordained position each of the chosen stones taken out of the quarry of nature, and polished by his grace; he sees the whole from corner to cornice, from base to roof, from foundation to pinnacle. He hath in his mind a clear knowledge of every stone which shall be laid in its prepared space, and how vast the edifice shall be, and when the top-stone shall be brought forth with shoutings of "Grace! Grace! unto it." At the last it shall be clearly seen that in every chosen vessel of mercy, Jehovah did as he willed with his own; and that in every part of the work of grace he accomplished his purpose, and glorified his own name.

Modern culture tells us to look inward, define ourselves by our wounds, and search for healing within ourselves. Scripture points us to a different source of hope.
The Bible does not deny suffering. It gives suffering meaning.
The Bible does not tell us to find our identity in our trauma. It tells us to find our identity in Christ.
The Bible does not promise a life free from pain. It promises a faithful Saviour who walks with us through it.

One of the greatest dangers of trauma-informed culture is that suffering can become the lens through which we interpret everything about ourselves.
Scripture tells a different story.
If you belong to Christ, your deepest identity is not victim, survivor, anxious, broken, or damaged.
You are redeemed.
You are forgiven.
You are chosen.
You are loved.

This week, we commemorate the Ascension of Jesus into heaven, forty days after His resurrection
Jesus, fully human and fully God, is seated on His throne at this moment.
What does this mean for you as a believer?
1. You can rest because He has paid the price for your sin.
2. You don’t need to worry because Jesus reigns over good and evil. Nothing is out of His control.
3. You can serve Him boldly and confidently as your Lord and King.
4. Jesus knows your suffering and sympathises with you.
5. You can look forward to a glorious future with King Jesus.
Did you realise how important it is for Jesus to leave this earth and reign in heaven?

I’m sorry you don’t have a Valentine.
But I want you to know
You
Are
Loved!
I’m sorry you didn’t get a bunch of flowers on Valentine’s Day…
But I want you to know you are loved by the one who delicately arranged each petal of each rose with tender, loving care.
I’m sorry you didn’t get a box of chocolates this Valentine’s Day…
But I want you to know you are loved by the One who designed the coco bean to cause your brain to release happy hormones when you eat a delicious chocolate.
I’m sorry you didn’t get a card this Valentine’s Day…
But I want you to know you are loved by the One who wrote 66 books to show you who He is and how much he loves YOU!
This world has turned love into one day of unmet expectations and disappointment.
But I want you to know you are loved by the One who wants to spend ETERNITY with you!
That is something to celebrate!

Even though Valentine's Day is a commercial cliché, at least it's always been about celebrating the love between two people, even two friends.
This year, however, it's been dragged down to a whole new level with an emphasis on loving yourself more.
Really?
No one needs more encouragement to love themselves more.
Jesus knew this when He commanded His followers to love God above all and your neighbour as yourself (Matthew 22:37-39). He knew we loved ourselves already, so we needed to love others just as much.
Paul also knew that wicked people become lovers of self instead of being lovers of Jesus Christ (Philippians 2:21)
Be careful what you buy and buy into.
Friend, you are loved, so go out and love others this Valentine's Day, and every day. (1 John 4:19).
