Have you thought about what it cost Jesus to come to earth as a baby?
Paul writes that Jesus “emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” (Philippians 2:7-8)
The Power that made the heavens and the earth was conceived in the womb of the virgin Mary to become a little baby to “endure the human experience”.
After Jesus ascended into heaven he did not leave us without his presence but sent his Holy Spirit to dwell with those who trusted in him for salvation. This doesn’t mean we become little gods, but it does mean that God is still with us.
“For sluggish, tired, burdened believers, to know that the Holy Spirit has taken up residence not just in a stinky barn but in stinky people is an enduring and unconquerable encouragement.” – Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson writes that, through the power of the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, we now have the power to get up each morning with joy. “We have the power to endure the greatest suffering with a greater hope. We have the power to repent of sin and withstand the temptation of the devil.”
We have the power to be friends with Jesus!
